Cataract Surgery Campaign - Northern Ethiopia

This is a commissioned work done for Operation Ethiopia - an NGO that waw originally founded to support the Jewish community in Ethiopia, and later started working with the general Ethiopian population as well.
This campaign was a week-long effort to provide rural communities in the Gondar area with sight-restoring cataract surgeries, which most of them don't have access to. The campaign was arranged by Operation Ethiopia, and made possible with the logistical and financial support from the DEAR Foundation, and HCP - Cureblindness.
Local medical teams had spread the word to the people, conducted screenings and medical examinations, and then performed the actual surgeries, over the course of a week. Over five hundred operations were performed, and many more people have received additional eye treatments, medical advice, as well as supportive care, such as eyeglasses and sunglasses.

This campaign was the first one out of many more to come, and this page will be updated as the work progresses.
